The Koobi Fora Field School is now accepting applications for the 2017 season. Students applying to the Koobi Fora Field School by December 16, 2016 have the opportunity to apply for a prestigious NSF International Research Experience for Students fellowship. This fellowship provides funds to cover the cost of the field school and a paid stipend. Fellowship students are required to complete an additional 3 week online course prior to the start of the field school, and participate in a 2-day research workshop in Fall 2017.

The Koobi Fora Field School runs from June 10-July 23, 2016. Applications for the NSF International Research Experience for Students fellowship are due December 16, but other applications will continue to be accepted until mid April.

Field school's sexual harassment policy as submitted

The Koobi Fora Field School (KFFS) maintains a zero tolerance stance on sexual harassment. KFFS is a workplace community and all participants on the program are expected to behave toward all other participants with kindness, collegiality, and dignity. In accordance with the George Washington University policies, the following will not be tolerated: -Unwelcome sexual advances. -Sexual jokes, written or oral references to sexual conduct, gossip regarding one's sex life; -Comment on an individual's body, comment about an individual's sexual activity, deficiencies, or prowess; -Displaying sexually suggestive objects, pictures, cartoons; -Unwelcome leering, whistling, brushing against the body, sexual gestures, suggestive or insulting comments; -Inquiries into one's sexual experiences. As a member of our research community we encourage any participant in our program to report any activities that they feel does not comply with the goal of safe and secure working environment. Complaints of sexual harassment will be taken very seriously. Any behaviors considered in violation fo the GWU sexual harassment policy can result in immediate termination of your participation on the Koobi Fora Field School. The KFFS is committed to maintaining a safe and inclusive environment conducive to learning. Unwanted sexual advances, physical or verbal, and jokes about gender, sexual orientation, race, or ability is considered counter-productive to that inclusivity and is unwelcome.
