The AABA 2024 annual conference in Los Angeles will hold a brief hooding ceremony for all MA and PhD graduates who were unable to walk at their graduations and be hooded by their advisors. While the participants will most likely be those who could not attend graduation due to Covid, anyone who never got a chance to be hooded at any time is welcome to participate. The ceremony will likely be held during the AABA Student Awards & Closing Reception on Saturday, March 23.
Participants are welcome to wear their own academic regalia or they do not have to wear regalia at all if they choose not to. Note that if you intend to purchase your own regalia for the ceremony, you will likely need to do so during the December graduation cycle. We are in the process of coming up with hood alternatives for those who do not have their own.
If you have your own hood and are willing to let participants borrow it for the ceremony, please fill out the Interest Form. Participants can make arrangements with their advisors to be hooded, but we are also looking for volunteers to hood participants whose advisors cannot attend.
If you are interested in participating in this event – to be hooded, as a volunteer hooder, or to loan your regalia, please fill out the Interest Form by December 1, 2023. More details will be provided in the coming months once we gauge the level of interest.
