OHIO UNIVERSITY’s Department of Sociology and Anthropology invites applications for a one-year non-tenure-track Assistant Professor of Instruction specializing in Anthropology beginning in Fall 2024-2025. The successful candidate will be expected to teach introductory courses in Cultural Anthropology and/or Biological Anthropology on both the Athens campus and eCampus. Non-tenure-track faculty teach an eight-course teaching load per year.

This Assistant Professor of Instruction position is a full-time, nine-month benefitted position for the term of one year (from August 16, 2024, to May 15, 2025). Depending on departmental requirements, funding availability, and the candidate’s successful performance, there is a possibility of extending the position for additional years.

Housed in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, the Anthropology Program consists of 7 full-time faculty and over 100 majors and minors. The program maintains a core focus on public engagement and outreach across the subfields. This focus provides opportunities for undergraduate students through community-based research and learning such as internships, field schools, independent research projects, and study abroad opportunities. Ohio University is a Research Intensive institution that serves more than 20,000 students on a residential campus in Athens, Ohio, a college town seventy-five miles southeast of Columbus, Ohio, as well as expanding eCampus online programs.

Minimum qualifications: The successful candidate must be ABD in Anthropology by the start date of the position.
