The Congdon School of Health Sciences at High Point University (High Point, NC) is seeking five (5) Graduate Teaching Fellows to assist in human gross anatomy instruction for the Summer of 2024.
Responsibilities: The Graduate Teaching Fellows will be responsible for assisting with the instruction of graduate students in human cadaveric dissections, preparing and dissecting human cadaveric specimens, and aiding in the composition and grading of written and practical exams.
Three (3) of the Graduate Teaching Fellows will assist with the Physician Assistant gross anatomy course under the direction of Course Director Dr. James D. Pampush. The PA Gross Anatomy course runs 10 weeks from the last week of May to the second week of August beginning on Memorial Day. The other two (2) Graduate Teaching Fellows will assist with the Physical Therapy gross anatomy course under the direction of Course Director Dr. Susan Lad. The duration of the PT course is longer, running from the second week of May through the third week of August. Teaching fellows will arrive in High Point for orientation one week before their assigned course begins and return to their home institution after the conclusion of the final week of their course.
Qualifications: Candidates for this position should be ABD PhD students in Anatomy, Anthropology, Biology, or a related program whose research focuses on some aspect of human and/or primate evolutionary anatomy/morphology. Candidates must have previously completed and scored an A or equivalent in a cadaveric gross anatomy course and be available for the entire duration of the contract. Given that there are two distinct time periods, applicants should indicate whether they are available for the PT and/or PA semesters. It is recommended that each Fellow has consistent access to a vehicle or other reliable form of local transportation.
Compensation: Fellows will be offered a course stipend of $6,000, and a separate room and board allowance of $2,000 per month. Help finding local long-term leasing options will be provided to fellows.
Application: Interested candidates should email the following to James D. Pampush ([email protected]) and Susan Lad ([email protected]): 1. A short cover letter (no more than 1 page) detailing their interest and relevant qualifications for the position. 2. A Curriculum Vitae which demonstrates their anatomically based research interests. 3. An unofficial transcript indicating completion of a cadaveric anatomy course with high grade. 4. We will begin reviewing applications immediately and will do so until all positions are filled. We welcome the applications of all eligible candidates.
