The Department of Biomedical Sciences (BMS) at the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicines invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor of Integrative & Comparative Anatomy. Preference will be given to candidates whose research is focused on biomechanics, comparative and evolutionary anatomy and/or physiology, functional morphology, or vertebrate developmental biology. High priority will also be given to candidates whose research complements that of existing organismal biology faculty in the Ecology and Evolutionary Biology Graduate Program and Ohio University research institutes, especially the Ohio Center for Ecology and Evolutionary Studies (OCEES).

The successful candidate will have access to ample independent and collaborative research space to support research and student training as well as state-of-the-art imaging (CT, microCT, XROMM), histology, and functional morphology facilities. Assigned office and lab space will be colocalized with other faculty with similar research programs within the Life Sciences Research Building. Graduate faculty status for PhD advising will be through the Department of Biological Sciences (BIOS) in the joint BIOS/BMS graduate program. Funding for graduate student teaching assistantships is available. Start-up funds are competitive and negotiable.

The successful applicant is expected to establish and maintain a productive and externally funded research program that includes research mentoring and training of graduate and other students. Teaching responsibilities will be assigned within the medical school and will emphasize cadaver-based clinical gross anatomy, with possible assignment to other fields of medical morphology (e.g., embryology, histology, neuroanatomy). Service may include department, college, and university-level assignments. The initial appointment for this position will be 60% research/30% teaching/10% service with a guaranteed 11-month contract. This position is on the Athens campus.
