The School of Human Evolution and Social Change and the Center for Evolution and Medicine at Arizona State University welcome applications for a Postdoctoral Research Scholar working with Dr. India Schneider-Crease (wildworms.org, @wildworms). As the successful candidate, you will lead projects within the broad area of disease ecology, with a particular focus on disease dynamics in wild geladas (Theropithecus gelada) and/or Kinda baboons (Papio kindae). These projects may include the viral dynamics of a complex bat-baboon ecosystem during a massive fruit bat migration in Kasanka National Park, Zambia, as a part of the Kasanka Baboon Project, or ecological and behavioral drivers of larval tapeworm infections and/or viral communities in the Simien Mountains National Park, Ethiopia, as a part of the Simien Mountains Gelada Research Project. Depending on the project, you will use molecular and/or immunological wet lab tools along with bioinformatics and/or other quantitative tools. There may be potential for field work after the first year.

Minimum qualifications: • Ph.D. in anthropology, biology, immunology, biostatistics, or a related field by the time of appointment. • Requires wet lab experience and strong quantitative skills. • Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse students, faculty, and staff populations and communities Desired qualifications: • Experience with long-term data and primate behavior.
