Assistant Professor of BioMedical Sciences - Clinical Anatomy REFERENCE F02002-2022-71

Applications are invited for a tenure track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the area of Clinical Anatomy within the Division of BioMedical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Memorial University of Newfoundland, St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. This position will commence Spring/Summer 2023, subject to budgetary approval.

The successful applicant will be expected to teach and provide leadership, in the medical education curriculum, particularly in the area of clinical anatomy. Human cadaveric dissection and teaching experience is essential. The successful applicant will be expected to develop an independent research program in either an area of biomedical sciences or in continuing medical education. Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. or equivalent and documented evidence of teaching competence in human gross anatomy. Previous experience with educational technology in the classroom and laboratory is an asset. The successful applicant will have access to the Faculty of Medicine’s state-ofthe art Anatomage table allowing 3D rendering of 4 cadavers (the only one in Atlantic Canada), 10 Sonosite ultrasound machines for point of care ultrasound training and teaching, newly renovated cadaver suite including downdraft tables for dissections and wet specimens, plus embalming table. Access to The Body Works Collection of plastinated anatomical specimens will be made available to the successful candidate.

Existing research strengths of the Division include cardiovascular sciences, cancer and development research, biological anthropology/human skeletal biology, human genetics and genomics research, immunology and infectious diseases, and neurosciences. The BioMedical Sciences Division, the Faculty of Medicine, and Memorial University offer an attractive research environment, with core scientific services and recently updated facilities including animal care, a fluorescence-activated cell sorting facility, and state-of-the-art technologies in microscopy. Large computational capacity is also available supported by the Atlantic Computing Excellence network (ACEnet). Collaborative opportunities exist with clinical researchers in Medicine and research groups in the Faculties of Science, Engineering, Computer Sciences, and the Ocean Sciences Centre.
