The Department of Anthropology at the Pennsylvania State University (https://anth.la.psu.edu/) is seeking excellent candidates for the position of Postdoctoral Scholar to join a collaborative research project investigating the role of Meckel’s cartilage and mandibular bone in the development and evolution of facial morphogenesis and dysgenesis. This postdoc position is part of NIH-funded collaborative projects. The ideal candidate for this position should have a strong working knowledge of craniofacial anatomy (especially prenatal) and have experience with techniques used in microCT imaging, processing, and analysis. Experience with software packages such as Avizo, ImageJ, and Dragonfly as well as familiarity with Python and R languages is preferred but not required. Experience with coding, 3D modeling, or machine learning is also a plus. The anticipated start date for this position is as soon as possible. This is a limited-term position for one year from date of hire with the possibility of renewal for a second year. The qualified candidate must hold a Ph.D. degree or have completed all requirements for a Ph.D. by the time of appointment.
