The Department of Anthropology at East Carolina University seeks a Forensic Anthropologist for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor starting August 16, 2023. The Department seeks candidates who have an active research program in forensic anthropology and an interest in the biological consequences of inequality and discrimination and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The position requires teaching two undergraduate and/or graduate courses per semester, including but not limited to introduction to biological anthropology, forensic anthropology, and human skeletal analysis. The candidate will also be responsible for developing undergraduate and graduate courses that align with forensic anthropology or closely-related topics. Faculty are expected to perform university and professional service and have an active research program that involves mentorship of undergraduate and graduate students.

A Ph.D. in Anthropology or a closely related field is required at the time of appointment. Qualifying degree must be conferred and received from appropriately accredited institutions. Applicants at the Assistant Professor level are expected to demonstrate potential for research which engages students and emerging scholars, is supported by external funding, and disseminated via high quality publications. We particularly welcome applications from those underrepresented in the discipline. Preference will be given to candidates whose research and teaching crosses subfield boundaries with medical and cultural anthropology.
