The Evolutionary Ecology and Health lab directed by Prof. Thomas Kraft (https://faculty.utah.edu/u6037958-THOMAS_STEIN_KRAFT/research/index.hml) at the University of Utah is seeking applicants for a fully-funded PhD student position starting Fall 2023. Candidates with broad interests are encouraged to apply, especially in areas of ongoing research pertaining to evolutionary medicine, health, energetics, aging, life history, and social behavior. All research in the lab is united by an evolutionary perspective and quantitative approach. Interested students will have the opportunity to get involved in the NSF-funded Orang Asli Health and Lifeways Project (https://www.orangaslihealth.org/), a longitudinal and comparative study of biology, health, behavior, and culture among the Orang Asli, the Indigenous peoples of Peninsular Malaysia. Individuals interested in engaging in intensive community-oriented fieldwork, as well as Malaysian students or members from traditionally underrepresented groups, are especially encouraged to apply.
