The University of Alaska Fairbanks Department of Anthropology invites applications for a non-tenure track Assistant Professor of Bioanthropology. Applicants must have training in biological anthropology and independent research experience on a specific question within biological anthropology. Expertise in human biological variation, bioarchaeology (particularly hunter-gatherers), or paleogenetics is a plus, but all research foci will be included. The position has a tripartite workload that includes teaching, research, and service. Candidates shall demonstrate excellence in teaching. The teaching load and duties specifically will include a lower division, four-field, introduction to anthropology course (ANTH F101) , introduction to biological anthropology (ANTH F221), anthropology and race (ANTH F225), human biological variation (ANTH F315), other established lower and upper division/graduate courses as needed, and courses in area of specialization. The successful candidate must hold office hours appropriate for the courses being taught and develop and modify curriculum for distance delivery and other teaching modalities. Service duties include: departmental service advising students and other duties as needed, possible university committee service, external professional service (e.g., serving as an academic editor, reviewing papers and grants, serving on grant panels). PhD in Anthropology or related field at time of appointment required. This position is represented by United Academics (UNAC).
