The Congdon School of Health Sciences at High Point University (High Point, NC) is seeking six (6) Graduate Teaching Fellows to assist in human gross anatomy instruction for the Summer of 2022. Responsibilities: The Graduate Teaching Fellows will be responsible for assisting with the instruction of graduate students in human cadaveric dissections, preparing and dissecting human cadaveric specimens, and aiding in the composition and grading of written and practical exams.
Three (3) of the Graduate Teaching Fellows will assist with the Physician Assistant gross anatomy course under the direction of Course Director Dr. James D. Pampush. The PA Gross Anatomy course runs 10 weeks from the 1st week of June to the 2nd week of August beginning on Memorial Day (May 31st – August 12th). The other three (3) Graduate Teaching Fellows will assist with the Physical Therapy gross anatomy course under the direction of Course Director Dr. Susan Lad. The duration of the PT course is longer, running from the third week of May through the third week of August (May 23rd – August 19th).
Teaching fellows will arrive in High Point for orientation one week before their assigned course begins and return to their home institution after the conclusion of the final week of their course. Qualifications: Candidates for this position should be ABD PhD students in Anatomy, Anthropology, Biology, or a related program whose research focuses on some aspect of human and/or primate evolutionary anatomy/morphology. Candidates must have previously completed and scored an A or equivalent in a cadaveric gross anatomy course and be available for the entire duration of the contract. Given that there are two distinct time periods, applicants should indicate whether they are available for the PT and/or PA semesters. It is recommended that each Fellow has consistent access to a vehicle.
Compensation: The successful candidates will be competitively paid, and local furnished housing (complete with kitchenware) will be provided by High Point University for the duration of the contract.
