The Department of Biomedical Sciences, Texas A&M University College of Dentistry (TAMUCOD), invites applications for a NSF-funded Graduate Program opportunity at Ph.D. student level to be supervised by Dr. Qian Wang. This NSF funded project is aimed to use a comparative method to reconstruct the health and mortality profile of a prehistoric settlement and to determine the cause of the destruction of this settlement, likely a deadly infectious disease. The deadline for graduate admission application is December 15, 2021. The position will begin from August 2022 with a possibility of an earlier admission. Preferably applicants possess a M.S. degree in bioarcheology or biological anthropology; however, excellent B.S. students will be considered too. Preference will be given to applicants with previous experience in human anatomy, osteology, paleopathology, evolutionary morphology, as well as biostatistics.
