The Center for Anatomical Science and Education (CASE) at Saint Louis University invites applications for a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure eligible faculty position at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level. Applicants must have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree and a commitment to excellence in teaching. Primary responsibilities of this position include teaching dissection-based gross anatomy to medical, graduate, physician assistant (PA), and allied health students. Additional teaching responsibilities may include a systems-based undergraduate Basic Human Anatomy course and graduate-level courses in the anatomical sciences.

Individuals with demonstrated ability to teach physiology, histology, embryology, or neuroanatomy will be given preference, as will candidates with at least two years of postdoctoral experience, and/or experience teaching in small-group, Team-Based Learning or Peer Instruction environments.

CASE is a highly collaborative teaching and research environment. While our primary responsibility is teaching, the successful candidate will be expected to maintain a research/scholarship program in order to mentor graduate students. Departmental research areas include human anatomical variation, neuroscience, comparative anatomy, and medical education. Service on committees at the departmental, school, and university level will be encouraged for continued professional development and advancement.

Minimum Qualifications: • Doctoral degree (or M.D. degree) in anatomical or related science • Extensive experience teaching human gross anatomy in a clinically oriented manner to students enrolled in health professions programs • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred qualifications • Two years of postdoctoral experience • Previous experience at an allopathic or osteopathic medical education program • Experience with diverse teaching methodologies including team-based learning, peer instruction, and “flipped” classroom • Experience teaching physiology, histology, embryology, or neuroscience
