Qualifications: Up to two years of funding will be provided to a doctoral-level educator (e.g., PhD, MD, DPT, etc.) who has significant experience teaching in at least two of the anatomical sciences (gross anatomy, embryology, neuroanatomy, or histology) to students of medicine or other health professions. The successful applicant will be expected to develop publishable scholarship related to anatomy or other areas of medical education.

Teaching Expectation: This position will require up to a 60% time-commitment to teaching. The applicant will be responsible for course directing a systemic (non-dissection based) anatomy course for anesthesiologist assistants (fall) as well as contributions to team taught gross anatomy courses for medical students (fall semester), graduate students (Spring semester) and PT, PA and OT students (summer). The pedagogy will involve classroom lectures, laboratory instruction, and small group activities such as Case-Based or Team-Based Learning.

Scholarship Expectation: Preference will be given to applicants with prior training and/or experience in medical education research, using either quantitative or qualitative approaches. However, applicants without such prior experience will be considered. Opportunities for educational research collaboration are available via department’s unique education-focused Ph.D. program, which involves educational researchers in the schools of medicine, nursing, science, and education. The establishment of a mentoring committee composed of anatomy educators and educational researchers will be established at the outset to guide the fellow’s scholarship and career development.
