The Department of Anthropology at the University of CIncinnati invites applications for a full-time, one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position for the period from January 2021 through December 2021. This includes Spring Semester 2021 and Fall Semester 2021, with the potential for renewal.
The duties of this position include teaching bioanthropology and archaeology courses and to contribute to the department's NAGPRA consultation and documentation process. We are particularly interested in a scholar with experiencewith NAGPRA compliance, consultation and project management.
The successful candidate will teach 4 courses (1 Spring, 3 Fall), including a large online introductory class, Introduction to Bioanthropology (Anthropology 1003), and bioarchaeological courses to be determined in consultation with the selected candidate. In addition to teaching, the VAP will also contribute to management of Tribal consultation, documentation, and the repatriation of culturally identifiable remains and objects in the department’s NAGPRA collections.
Candidates with a Ph.D. in Anthropology or related fields in hand by the time of appointment are preferred, but ABDs will be considered.
