Primary Purpose The Department of Anthropology at Idaho State University invites applications for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor opening for a broadly trained biological anthropologist with a focus in forensic anthropology to begin August 2021.

Key Responsibilities Faculty in the department typically teach a total of six courses per year (three courses per semester). The candidate will be expected to teach courses in forensics and biological anthropology, including developing introductory courses, upper level courses and graduate courses that may be field-based, lab-based, service learning, online, and/or interdisciplinary. Faculty are expected to supervise graduate and undergraduate students, perform university and professional service, and conduct active research that involves students.

Minimum Qualifications Ideal candidates will have a Ph.D in Anthropology or other related field in-hand at the time of appointment and demonstrate collaborative and diverse research interests in support of the four-field mission of the Department. We seek a forensically trained anthropologist with interest in pursuing casework in the region, but with versatile research topics of broader anthropological significance. Evidence of superior and innovative pedagogy, student mentoring, and community engagement is essential.

Preferred Qualifications Research focus includes, but is not limited to human rights, skeletal biology, decomposition and taphonomy, pathology and trauma, and quantitative analysis. Experience with GIS, molecular, or isotopic methods, or other methodological specialties are highly desirable.
