The Department of Anthropology at the University of North Carolina Wilmington invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Biological Anthropology position, to start August 2021. The successful candidate will be an anthropologist with research interests in ecological/evolutionary approaches to past or present populations that complement, but do not overlap with those of current departmental faculty. Research areas may include primate biology, ethnoprimatology, ethnoecology, human origins and/or human evolution, health, diet, and nutrition. Areas of geographic concentration should focus outside the United States.

The successful candidate will teach introduction to general anthropology, introduction to Physical Anthropology and advanced courses in their fields of expertise. Potential class offerings include Primate Biology and Behavior, Human Origins, Environmental Anthropology, and courses in critical theory and research methods in Anthropology.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Anthropology by the beginning of their appointment and be able to provide evidence of success in teaching and publishing, and demonstrate potential for extramural research funding. Candidates are expected to engage undergraduates in research and those with a strong record of working with students from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
