The Department of Anthropology at Appalachian State University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track lecturer position in Biological Anthropology to begin August 1, 2020. The successful candidate will teach a 4-course load equivalency per semester. In the Fall, they will teach one section of ANT 2230 Biological Anthropology (introduction to the discipline for majors) and 4 two-hour lab sections held in conjunction with the General Education course ANT 1430: Our Primate Heritage. These lab sections are offered on the same day, once a week. Duties include setting up and breaking down the lab materials, administering on-site lab activities, grading the resulting lab submissions, and providing instructional support for students enrolled in the lab sections. For the Spring, the successful candidate will teach ANT 2230 Biological Anthropology, ANT 3300 Human Osteology, and ANT 4330 Bioarchaeology in addition to a specialty course of their choosing that meets student needs.

Applicants must be enrolled in a graduate program (having completed 18 hours) or hold a Ph.D. in Anthropology by the position start date. While all applications will be considered, individuals specializing in Bioarchaeology or Paleopathology are encouraged to apply and the geographical interest area is open.
