The Anthropology Department at Hamline University seeks applicants for a tenure-track position in Biological Anthropology. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Anthropology or closely related field. ABD candidates will be considered. The successful candidate will have demonstrated effective success in teaching anthropology to diverse populations of students at the undergraduate level and possess a robust research or professional experience record. Research area is open as is geographic area, but preference will be given to biological anthropologists who can contribute to the strong legacy of bioarchaeology, human osteology, and forensic anthropology at Hamline, work with native communities, and contribute to the development of our Center for Anthropological Services. We also encourage biological anthropologists whose work engages living communities, fieldwork in the global south, climate change, ongoing debates about repatriation of human remains, or negotiations of history, ethnicity and race.

The Hamline anthropology department is dedicated to educational practices that encourage undergraduates to do independent research, collaborative research and fieldwork. The Anthropology department has funding to support high impact learning practices, and a long history of mentoring and supporting diverse undergraduate students and connecting education to career goals.

Applicants will be asked to attach a letter of interest, a CV, statement of teaching philosophy emphasizing their engagement with student success, evidence of scholarship, a sample syllybi, a diversity statement (outlining the applicant’s past, present, and projected contributions to the promotion of diversity, equity, and inclusion in institutional contexts), Candidates will be asked to provide two letters of reference during the application process.
