College Fellow in Human Evolutionary Biology Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Harvard University

The Department of Human Evolutionary Biology in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Harvard University seeks applications for a College Fellow in Human Evolutionary Biology, specializing in paleoanthropology. We are especially interested in scholars who explore, both in the lab and in the field, relationships between anatomy and behavior in humans and hominins.

The appointment is expected to begin on July 1, 2020. The College Fellow will have teaching responsibilities, with 25 percent of the appointment reserved for the Fellow’s own research. Teaching duties will include teaching three courses or their equivalents. This will likely involve some combination of a lecture course, undergraduate seminar, one or more sections of sophomore tutorial, and section teaching in a department foundation course. The Fellow might also advise and evaluate senior honors theses.

Candidates are required to have a doctorate of an equivalent terminal degree by the expected start-date. The appointment is for one year, with the possibility of renewal for a second year, contingent on performance, position availability, curricular need, and divisional dean authorization.

Basic Qualification: Doctorate or equivalent terminal degree in human evolutionary biology or related discipline required by the expected start-date and must have been received no earlier than 2016.

Additional Qualification: Demonstrated strong commitment to teaching is desirable.
