Job description: The Department of Anthropology of the University at Albany (SUNY) seeks to hire a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Biological Anthropology. The candidate should have a research focus on evolutionary anthropology with application of evolutionary theory and/or bio-cultural theory relevant to human evolution, which can include work on modern humans. The candidate will teach classes relevant to a large and growing Human Biology Major, specifically Introduction to Human Evolution (ANT 110) and upper level courses, as well as graduate classes in Biological Anthropology. In addition to these required courses, the ability to teach Human Population Biology (ANT 211) on occasion would be preferred. The candidate will also participate in advising undergraduate and graduate students.

Requirements: The successful candidate must hold a doctoral degree from a university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization. Applicants must possess a significant record of scholarship and have demonstrated ability to develop an independent program of research. Applicants should discuss their potential for external funding. Applicants must address in their applications their ability to work with and instruct a culturally diverse population.
