Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a twelve-month, tenure track Department Chair and Professor (or Associate Professor) faculty position in the Department of Geography and Anthropology, which begins July 2020.

The College of Humanities and Social Sciences seeks a visionary and effective leader to become the next Chair of the Department of Geography and Anthropology. The Chair holds a 12-month position with the possibility of tenure upon appointment and reports to the Dean of the College. The department offers majors in Geography, Anthropology, and Geographic Information Science; minors in Anthropology; Environmental Studies, Geography, and Native-American Studies; and a certificate in Geographic Information Sciences. The ideal candidate will have a distinguished record of leadership in a field related to the Department’s academic programs and research portfolio. We seek an individual demonstrating dedication to excellence in teaching and research, as well as a strong commitment to service and community engagement. Strong management and administrative skills are required. A strong vision for the future and a sense of mission for the department are also needed. The successful candidate will demonstrate a sincere commitment to promoting advocacy, diversity, equity, inclusiveness, and social justice, as evidenced by prior innovative and successful measures. Experience overseeing online programs and teaching hybrid/online courses is a plus. Priority will be given to candidates with a background in generating and facilitating external funding. In addition to departmental administration, the Chair carries limited teaching responsibilities.

Required Education An earned doctorate in Geography, GIS, Anthropology, or a related field, or its foreign equivalent; a record of successful administrative experience in a department, college, or university setting; a commitment to diversity; and a record of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and professional service commensurate with the rank of associate or full professor.
