Associate Research Fellow (postdoctoral fellow) position available working with Dr Lauren Brent. This National Institute on Aging (NIA) funded post is available from September 1, 2019 to July 31, 2021 and is based at University of Exeter. The successful applicant will contribute to a multi-institute project on the social modifiers of the pace of aging in a gregarious primate. Co-PIs on the project are Noah Snyder-Mackler (UWashington) and James Higham (NYU). The post will include coordinating field-based research in Puerto Rico, generating data collected in the field, building a database to store behavioural and aging data, producing outputs that explore sociality across the lifespan, and the impact of social phenotypes on hallmarks of aging, which will include morphological and molecular (genomic, immunological, endocrinological) aging markers. Applicants should have experience working with non-laboratory based animals, be familiar with field-based research approaches, be able to manipulate large amounts of data, and will have some experience or willingness to learn social network analysis, and the use of multi-level models.
